Seeing how a book cover design comes together is a great way to learn new techniques. But who has the time or the opportunity to shadow someone while working? Well, check out this time-lapse video of the making of a book cover.
Newspaper designers and graphic artists often must develop a centerpiece or section front illustration that captures the essence of a story. The same is done here, only with a much longer story. From what I can tell, an amazing amount of Photoshop work went into the final cover.

The MetroWest Daily News (Framingham, Mass.) has launched a great project idea tied in with a new HBO series that is already creating some buzz that is sure to continue for months to come: the Steven Spielberg/Tom Hanks-backed World War II series "The Pacific."

The Hannibal Courier Post in Missouri is counting down to spring.
The GateHouse Media newspaper has a countdown with a big number showing how many days until spring, featured in their rail on their front page. This is similar to a feature the Rockford Register ran a few years ago.
A photo is included with each day, usually from a reader.
As more GateHouse Media newspapers transition to the new Zope template, GHnewsroom.com will share how newsrooms are managing certain areas of the new site successfully.
