Q&A

Take advantage of the Q&A's flexibility

If your newspaper is undergoing Web Cube training or has had any redesign help, then you've most likely been given Alternative Story Format (ASF) templates.

While all of these are good ideas, I want to focus on the Q&A. The Q&A is the most flexible of these formats and is an incredibly useful tool.

Q&A: From publisher to photographer

It’s certainly not uncommon in this business for a publisher to wear many hats, including handling news coverage. It is, however, fairly rare for a publisher who runs two newspapers the size of the (Springfield, Ill.) State Journal-Register and Rockford Register Star to be directly involved in news coverage.

Q&A: An interview with the president

Bernard Schoenburg, the (Springfield, Ill.) State Journal-Register's political columnist, scored a big coup Thursday when he got a one-on-one phone interview with President Barack Obama when the president visited Illinois.

Here in Illinois, we have five daily newspapers that are currently a part of the News Now program.

One of the basic principles of the program is regular Web updates throughout the day. The goal is to consistently get updates on the Web site on both news and community events.
